Here are some examples of a varaity of different styles of design in film posters, to begin with I began by looking at high budget film poster design that use many of the 7 elements that I spoke about in a previous blog post. In these poster design they play on pre-existing design elements from the existing franchise and elements from the film to intrigue the viewer into attracting there attention towards the movie poster.
Next I began looking into illustrator/designer, fan creation of film posters. I noticed through-out the varaity of film posters in this genre of designer tended to all create designs stylised towards 1950’s film posters with a small colour pallet and generally creating designs that are linked to the film and that someone who as watched the film would understand references in the poster rather then the previous style of poster which it’s job was to attract a new viewer/audience.
The next style of film posters that I began looking at were Swiss design inspired film posters as they combined elements from both the illustrator/designer made film posters and the high budget Hollywood film posters. In these poster elements colour and the text take prominent roll in the design but a use of simple image design is used with in them to create simple yet effective film posters.
