evaluation

When undertaking this module, I completed a large range of research in modernism history, modernism characteristics, key leaders of the movement and also its influences on graphic design, through looking at a range of different website, book and from analyzing images. Changes that i would make to my essay would have to be to talk about the art movement that was before modernism to make a comparison for the two and why modernism was so drastically different from it. This would have contextualized the reasoning to why the modernist movement was a rebel against what had come before.

When creating my practical exploration piece i found that production flowed a lot easier as this project was informed by the research i had already done and also my essay. The zine i created in my opinion is very successful as it can be distributed on a mass scale, it is modernist in style, and also is directly linked to the content of my essay and its conclusion of modernism being present in graphic design today. The materials are appropriate as it allows it to be mass produced at a cost effective price. I also uploaded it to issu as it is a quick and easy way of getting it out to the masses as well as it not limiting the overall aesthetic of the zine. If i was to undertake this practical again i would try and find an even more cost effective was to mass produce the zine without limiting the overall aesthetics of the zine, this would allow it to be produced on an even larger scale. I would also get someone to proof read my work to check for spelling mistakes and typo's, as there was a spelling mistake on the cover of my zine, this would of been a crucial design mistake if i was to of mass produced the booklet as is.
